A family, a home and a future.
As well as covering our children’s basic needs such as, adequate housing, nutrition and healthcare we also ensure a comprehensive education and training program that is focused on supporting the children’s development into self-confident, self reliant and contributing members of the society. Action for Orphans draws on the experience and learning of the tried and tested “family module” for out-of-home care, developed by international childcare organizations. In the AFO “family module”, each child has a family of his or her own. At the centre of each AFO family is a main care person, the AFO-mother, who is a close substitute for the children’s natural mother. The AFO-mother, together with her children, organises her family’s daily life and is supported by trained Educational and Developmental staff. |
Action for Orphans provides “family-based” care for orphaned or abandoned children of Iran.
